From Sultan to Swindler: Seven Portraits from Cornelis Calkoen's Series of 'Turkish Paintings'

Eveline Sint Nicolaas is a curator of history at the Rijksmuseum. Her areas of interest include overseas relations with the West, the Dutch presence in the Levant and the collection of arms and armour. She is also currently working on her thesis on the Turkish Paintings in the collection of Cornelis Calkoen, former ambassador of the Dutch Republic to the Ottoman Empire.
