Author Biography

  • Erlend de Groot

    Erlend de Groot earned his doctorate in 2001 with his thesis The World of a Seventeenth-Century Collector: The Atlas Blaeu-Van der Hem and then undertook postdoctoral research into Dutch-African relations in the early modern age. Since 2007 he has been working on the catalogue Dutch Paintings of the Seventeenth Century in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam: Volume II — Artists born between 1600 and 1625. He also teaches Dutch art history at the University of Maastricht.
