  Pieter Breuker was formerly with the faculty Frisian Language and Culture at the University of Groningen, from where he received his PhD with the dissertation Noarmaspekten fan it hjoeddeiske Frysk in 1993. Breuker has published numerous books and articles on Frisian handball and the history of sports in general.
