  • Alvar González-Palacios

    Alvar Gonzáles-Palacios has long been recognized as the foremost historian of Italian decorative arts. Over the past fifty years he has revolutionized the study of this enormous field. He has published an extraordinary number of books and articles: on the popes as patrons, the Borghese family and their palaces, pietre dure, the arts in Naples, Florence and Rome, and on Piranesi. Recent publications include Giuseppe Maggiolini, Catalogo ragionato dei disegni (Milan 2014, with Giuseppe Beretti) and I Valadier, L’Album dei disegni del Museo Napoleonico (Rome 2015).
