Author Biography

  • Boudewijn Bakker

    Boudewijn Bakker worked at the Amsterdam City Archives from 1971 to 2008 where he
    held among others the position of head curator of exhibitions and publications. His research
    encompassed the history of the cityscape and landscape in art, as well as their intellectual
    contexts. Recent publications include ‘Nature or art? Rembrandt’s Aesthetics and the Dutch
    Tradition’, in C. Vogelaar and G.J.M. Weber (eds.), Rembrandt’s Landscapes, Leiden and
    elsewhere 2006, pp. 144-71; ‘Au vif – naar ’t leven – ad vivum. The Medieval Origin of a Humanist
