Author Biographies

  • Erika Smeenk-Metz

    Eerika Smeenk-Metz studied art history at the Free University in Amsterdam and trained as a conservator of easel paintings at the Limburg Conservation Institute (SRAL) in Maastricht. She has worked as a conservator for various museums (Van Gogh Museum, Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis, Rijksmuseum), institutions (rce) and private individuals. She has been working in the conservation studio of the Rijksmuseum since the end of 2005.

  • Barbara Schoonhoven

    Barbara Schoonhoven studied art history at Utrecht University and trained as a conservator of easel paintings at the Limburg Conservation Institute (SRAL) in Maastricht. She has worked as a conservator for various museums and institutions, including the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She is currently working for the Rijksmuseum on a conservation project involving the Presidential Collection in Turkey.

  • Arie Wallert

    Arie Wallert is the curator of technical painting research and senior scientist at the Rijksmuseum.
